Mama’s Old Stupid Soup
1.5 - 2lbs stew meat
1 pack of oxtails or one large soup bone- (I love the flavor of the oxtails)
1 large or 2 medium turnips, chopped
3-4 celery stalks, chopped
3-5 carrots, chopped
1 large or 2 medium onions
1 large or 2 small cans of diced tomatoes
Boil the oxtails in 2 qt.. water for about 20 minutes (this helps get the flavor going). Add the stew meat and cover the top of water with black pepper, and salt to taste. Boil this for about 20 minutes. Then add the onions, carrots, and celery. Continue cooking for another 15-20 minutes. Add turnips and cook until they are tender. Serve over rice. Better the next day!
